Shibori, a Japaneses technique of dying clothes, also known as tie and die, has a strong connection with Indian bandhni and leheria. Speckled with squares, rectangles, circles, hazy lines, it attracts all the attention and admiration. The use of dramatic colors makes it all the more happening. Be it a maxi dress, or a casual kurti, it pops out significantly.
Carter Smith, a master of Shibori, creates museum quality pieces. Anita Dongre has used this technique beautifully in her designs showcased at Lakme Fashion Week. Anamika Khanna, also, has some pieces featuring shibori designs in her latest collection.
